Performance, Quality & Engineering
Every CobFlex COB strip is engineered around six quality pillars: binning, CRI, thermal management, IP encapsulation, dimming fidelity and LM-80 tested lifetime.
Engineered for the professionals who specify light.
CobFlex strips are engineered for lighting designers, specifiers and contractors who demand photometric precision, long-term reliability and consistent quality across projects. Every meter is binned, tested and documented to the standards expected of professional architectural lighting.
Designed for the way professionals specify linear light.
Four engineering disciplines define every CobFlex strip — from the chip architecture up to the photometric documentation that ships with every reel.
Chip-on-Board Architecture
A contiguous COB phosphor layer eliminates the discrete LED dot matrix. With 320–840 chips per meter and a uniform emitting surface, CobFlex delivers pixel-free linear light without deep diffusers.
Thermal Engineering
Double-layer 3 oz rolled-annealed copper FPC (105 µm) and aluminum-core PCB options keep Tc ≤ 85 °C at rated current for consistent lumen maintenance at L70 / 50,000 h.
Colorimetric Consistency
Every production lot is measured on a calibrated spectrophotometer and binned to within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse (≤3 SDCM). Reels carry CCT, CRI and (x,y) chromaticity coordinates on the label.
Mechanical Reliability
IP68 variants use PU-silicone co-extrusion tested to 50,000 flex cycles down to 25 mm radius, with marine-grade tinned-copper lead wires and silicone strain reliefs for continuous flex installations.
IP Ratings & Sealing
Choose the ingress protection matched to your installation environment. Every sealed variant carries documented IP test reports available on request.
For recessed aluminum profiles with integrated diffusers, coves, display cases and furniture. Must be mounted in a sealed profile.
Kitchens, bathrooms (zone 2), retail window displays and hospitality environments exposed to dust, condensation or occasional cleaning splash.
Building facades under eaves, landscape and pool surrounds, walk-over profiles and temporary outdoor installations subject to temporary immersion.
Fountains, pools, underwater linear effects, marine exterior and cold-storage environments. Tested to 10 m, 72 h continuous immersion.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
Six production stages — every reel is electrically, photometrically and visually inspected before shipment.
SMT Die Bonding
High-precision pick-and-place mounts 320–840 flip-chip COB dies per meter on 3 oz RA copper FPC, with SAC305 lead-free reflow soldering at 245 °C peak.
Phosphor Dispensing
Proprietary phosphor-silicone matrix is precision-dispensed over the die array and cured in a nitrogen-purged oven to ensure uniform CCT and CRI across the reel.
Encapsulation
For IP65/67/68 SKUs, extruded silicone or PU-silicone layers are applied in-line; IP68 co-extrusion creates a single monolithic sleeve with no glued end caps.
In-line Testing
Every meter is probed for Vf, current draw and luminous flux at 24 V; colorimetric measurements are taken every 5 m on an integrating sphere.
Burn-in
100% of reels undergo a 4-hour powered burn-in at 45 °C ambient; any Vf drift or dead pixel triggers automatic rejection.
Documentation
Every reel is labelled with CCT, CRI, Vf, bin code, production date and QR traceability; a per-lot photometric test report is available for specification-grade projects.
Certifications & Compliance
All SKUs are tested and certified for EU, UK and North American markets. Project-specific declarations (DoC, LM-80, BIM) are available from the technical support team.

Photometric Performance
Optical consistency is measured, not assumed. Every CobFlex lot ships with photometric data that can be dropped directly into lighting simulation software.
CANDELA
In 10° increments from 10° to 120° via matched silicone-extruded lenses, with beam-angle tolerance ± 3° across a 5 m reel and between production lots.
CANDELA
Within-reel and between-reel color held within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse; multi-reel projects can be ordered from a single production batch for tighter tolerance.
CANDELA
All CobFlex SKUs dim to 0.1% with recommended constant-voltage / constant-current drivers; compatibility with TRIAC, 0-10 V, DALI-2 and DMX decoders documented per driver.

Common specification questions.
IP20 for indoor profile mounting where the profile itself provides dust / moisture protection. IP65 for dust and splash (kitchens, bathrooms zone 2, display cases). IP67 for temporary immersion or outdoor under-eaves facade lighting. IP68 for continuous immersion (fountains, pools), marine and cold-storage environments. When in doubt, specify IP67 as a robust all-round outdoor grade.
For 24 V DC 10 mm PCB SKUs, a single-ended feed supports 5 m without measurable voltage-drop color shift; for runs longer than 5 m, use 20 AWG auxiliary feed wires every 5 m or center-feed the run. Our engineering team can provide voltage-drop calculations for specific SKUs and run lengths.
Yes. Standard IES files are available for every density / CCT / optic combination on request, and we generate project-specific files from goniophotometer measurements when supplied with mounting profile drawings. DIALux / Relux plug-in files and Revit families are also available.
The strips themselves are passive 24 V DC loads; dimming performance depends on the driver / decoder. We publish a compatibility list of recommended TRIAC, 0-10 V, DALI-2, DMX and Casambi decoders, with recommended PWM frequency (>= 2000 Hz) to ensure flicker-free operation for filming environments.
Standard 3-year warranty on all SKUs, extendable to 5 years for projects using recommended drivers and operating within published thermal limits. Warranty covers lumen maintenance above L70 and color shift within 5 SDCM over the rated lifetime.
Yes. Custom CCTs (2000–10000 K), high-CRI formularies (Ra 98, R9 > 90), specialty colors (RGB, RGBW, RGBCCT, dim-to-warm) and custom PCB widths (5–20 mm) are available on MOQ. Lead time is typically 3–4 weeks for custom production.
